We will be collecting personal needs items and non-perishable food items for charity.

Guest speakers include MDP Chair Mark Brewer and Gubernatorial Candidates Alma Wheeler Smith and Virg Bernero.

Alma Wheeler Smith is a former Michigan State Senator for 1994-2002. State Representative Smith was elected to the House of Representative in 2004 and is now in her third term.

Virg Bernero is beginning his fifth year as Mayor of Lansing. He has previously served as a County Commissioner and State Representative and Senator in the Michigan Legislature.

Also attending are candidates for State Attorney General: David Leyton, Secretary of State: Jocelyn Benson, District 8 U.S. Congress: Kande Ngalamulume, MSU Board of Trustees: Dennis Denno, District 22 Michigan Senate, Chuck Fellows and District 85 Michigan State Representative, Pamela Drake.

Filing Deadlines:

August Primary:

Candidate Filing Deadline–May 11, 2010 at 4:00 PM

Last day to remove name from ballot is May 14, 2010.

* Countywide candidates file with County Clerk

* Township and Village Candidates file with Township Clerk

* State Rep and Judicial Candidates file in Lansing
* Precinct Delegate candidates can file with either the County, City or Township Clerk

Filing Requirements:

Candidates must file Affidavit of Identity and petitions with the appropriate number of signatures or a filing fee.

The two top vote getters in each party will receive their filing fee back after the August election.

* All candidates must file a Statement of Organization unless one is already on file.
* Countywide candidates can file petitions (100-100 signatures) or pay a $100 filing fee
* County Commissioner Candidates can file petitions (20-20 signatures or pay a $100 filing fee
* Township candidates must file petitions only 3-10 signatures required.
* Precinct delegates–there are no filing fee or signatures required.
File a notarized Precinct Delegate Affidavit of Identity with Township, City or County Clerk.

Be sure you know the precinct in which you reside.
NOTE: There will be two Notaries Public at Pasta & Politics or the County Clerk will notarize it for you.

If you would like to vote in the Endorsement Convention, you must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party at least 30 days in advance of the event. This deadline is March 19th.
