Republican Michigan Supreme Court:More Anti-Victim,Pro-Insurance Company,Pro-Employer Rulings
Court Far From Being Fair and Impartial,Voters Deserve Better
LANSING – The Republican-controlled Michigan Supreme Court ended its term last week with more anti-victim,pro-insurance company,pro-employer rulings.
“This is all the people of Michigan need to know about the Republican Supreme Court:victims of all kinds – car accidents, medical malpractice, and employment discrimination – lose, while insurance companies, big corporations, and employers win,” Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer said. “This is not the fair and impartial Supreme Court the people of Michigan expect and deserve.”
Late last week, the Supreme Court ruled that an employer is not responsible for a rape in the workplace (Hamed v. Wayne County),denied medical treatment to a car accident victim paralyzed from the chest down (Krohn v. Home Owners Insurance Co.),and dismissed on a technicality a medical malpractice case on behalf of a patient who died after surgery (Ligons v. Crittenton Hospital).
