Nofs Running for Senate Because He Can’t Afford Economic Mess He Helped Create - Admits he is seeking another taxpayer-funded job because his state pension isn’t enough
LANSING – Yesterday, as he announced he would be one of the Republican candidates for the 19th State Senate special election, Lansing insider Mike Nofs revealed to the Battle Creek Enquirer the real reason he wants another government job:
“I felt for the first time how hard it is to live on a fixed income while your expenses keep going up,” he was quoted as saying in an article that ran today.
“Welcome to the real world, Mike,” said Mark Brewer, Michigan Democratic Party Chair. “While you spent six years in Lansing voting for policies that cost Michigan jobs and made the cost of living even more unaffordable for working people, Michigan’s families were suffering.”
As a state representative in Lansing, Nofs voted against taking breaks away from companies that outsource our jobs and opposed efforts to give incentives to companies for hiring Michigan workers first. He even ducked votes that would have stopped rewarding corporations that rob workers of the pensions they have worked hard to earn.
“Instead of complaining about how his own state pension is not enough, he should be apologizing for voting in favor of special interests all those years and against the best interests of struggling consumers,” said Brewer.
