I would like to thank all of you. Your support and assistance was critical to our success in the election. I am deeply honored to be elected County Commissioner for District 2.
As a new Commissioner, I learned that Shiawassee County has 22 different departments, which employ 240 individuals. Shiawassee County will spend more than 17 million dollars providing services to its citizens this year.
Part of my responsibilities as a Commissioner is that I am the Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee. The Health and Human Services Committee over sees the Health Department, Mental Health Authority, MSU Extension, Veterans Affairs, and Career Alliance. I also serve on the Mental Health Authority Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, and as an alternate for CLS Rails to Trails. I am enjoying being a part of and contributing to our county’s operation.
There are many decisions to make. Some of the decisions are relatively straightforward, and some of them are very difficult. Allocating decreasing resources in the most effective way is a continuing challenge. I am finding the job of County
Commissioner to be interesting, exciting, and challenging. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to represent the residents of District 2, and the interests of Shiawassee County.
