During last year’s campaign season I ran as a Democrat. In November, I won as a Democrat. And now, as a Democrat, I proudly serve as the Sheriff of Shiawassee County. I promised that I was going to set the bar high for the Sheriff’s Office, and I did. I said that I was going to provide the men and women in uniform with the tools they need to perform their duties, and I have. Finally, I stated that as Sheriff, I would stand behind those that serve you and give them my full support, and I have.
Undersheriff Paine and I meet with the Lieutenants weekly and we are confidant that a strong chain of command has been re-established. Also, overdue renovations have been completed and we are once again renting jail space and generating revenue for the county. Our relationship with the media has greatly improved and I have started a bi-monthly article in The Argus Press to help keep our citizens informed. Overall, pride, morale and spirit have risen and the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office is becoming the leader in county government it once was.
In the months to come, keep your eyes open for a fresh new look on our cruisers! Next on the agenda is the introduction of Project Lifesaver, an important pet project of mine which will help track and quickly and safely locate our local Alzheimer’s patients who wander from home. I am proud of our Sheriff’s Office and the progress we’ve made and I’m excited about our future!
Respectfully,
George R. Braidwood II
Shiawassee County Sheriff
